When this Friday rolled around, I began to get nervous! My visa appointment was 4 days away, and still no word from campus france. After compulsively checking my e-mail all morning, I finally decided to call and inquire about my status. The lady on the phone told me that I've been approved for almost 2 weeks now, and should've gotten an e-mail. I felt immediately relieved and asked her to e-mail it to me again.
Of course to ruin the excitement something had to go wrong...and I didn't get the e-mail for about 4 hours! But it's finally here and I am ready for my visa appointment!
From this experience I learned 2 things:
1) If you need something from CampusFrance - CALL, don't e-mail--they ignore e-mail!
2) Don't be afraid to be that annoying caller and keep calling back when you're not sure about something - they might hate you - but you're much more likely to get what you need.
If I would've followed the advice of one of the people that picked up the phone and rudely dismissed me to voicemail with "you have plenty of time," I would've still been waiting for a confirmation, not ever knowing that they didnt even GET my application!
Now on to the next and final step! I'm going to Chicago on Wednesday for my visa appointment. I'm excited to finally (and hopefully) get this whole process over with, but I'm also nervous because I have a complicated situation with my passport.
There's a rule that my passport must be valid for an extra 3 months after my study abroad is over, but mine is only valid for 1 extra month. So I applied for the renewal of my Russian passport, which takes 9 months (no joke!) and won't be ready until November! That obviously poses a problem, since I'm scheduled to leave on September 2nd.
I am counting on being able to get a long-stay visa ,(because technically it's only valid for 3 months anyways) and when I apply for my carte de séjour, I will have to make it valid until only the end of April...after I get my new passport I will renew my carte de séjour until the end of my program.
When I reason it out, I feel that there's no reason for me to have any problems with obtaining my visa...but bureaucrats make me nervous--so wish me luck!

UGH I'm going through the same thing right now with my Campus France application. I'm getting really nervous as time is running out. I sent in my application 3 weeks ago and haven't heard anything and have tried e-mails. I've also tried calling but I'm not fluent in French yet so I only have the slightest idea of what is being said on the other end by the automatic pickup. Do you have any advice for this? Maybe what the machine is saying??
Keep trying to call, eventually they'll pick up. I tried leaving voicemails but they never called me back - so try to get a real person. The number I called is 202-944-6294. They pick up in French, but if you just start speaking English, they'll switch to English! If it's been 3 weeks then I think you should've definitely gotten your confirmation by now. You might have just not gotten the confirmation e-mail (thats what happened to me) or something else..so calling and asking what the status of your application is would be the best thing to do in this case!!! I called and finally got an answer and the girl told me that she was working on my application right then. So everything is all worked out now and I'm going to get my visa on Wednesday... what a relief!! Thanks for your help!
I called that number and got an answering machine, and i sent an email and no response! the website is incredibly confusing, does anyone understand how to fill out the "campusfrance form" located under "my file"??
i've been waiting over a month and a half and still no response. i've emailed and called and i can't get anyone. i have no idea what to do.
I am so glad I found this! Campus France is a nightmare to deal with! I did what their (very sloppy) website said to do. Waited two weeks and nothing. I sent an email, nothing. I called, no answer. I'm still waiting but don't really know what to do from here. I'll keep you posted on my progress, if any.

I never received an email notice at all. Then I logged into my CampusFrance account to find two messages in my inbox there from three weeks earlier. I guess they never thought about sending something to your real email that you check every day. Now I'm trying to figure out what the next step is. I have no idea who to contact. I was assigned to the Los Angeles consulate, but I've moved back to Philadelphia to prepare for my trip to France.

I would like to confirm this post's information. I had to call campus france to finally get my confirmation email. I had been three weeks since they had received my dossier (and I had received my proof of payment) but nothing was coming along and my consulate appointment was in three days. I called them with the number you'll find them if you google them and I was able to speak with someone (you have to wait a bit and then they put someone on the line). I had to fax/email the letter of acceptance and then, two hours later, I had the confirmation email in my pastel email box... If i had waited for them to respond to my emails and fax I would have had to cancel my appointment.

I just recently sent out my application for Campus France on the 19th of December. I sent the money order and it should arrive today the 21st. I was wondering if I would get approved before my visa application date, which is the 3rd of January. Do you think this is possible?

I just called because my appointment is Monday and the lady was really nice. She got my account and said it would be processed very soon and if it wasn't processed within the hour she gave me their direct number to call back (that number is 202-944-6588)Good Luck Everyone!
